Theater Arts
The Waco High Theatre Arts program is an award-winning organization with a long history of success. From Shakespeare to musicals, improv comedy to UIL One Act Play competition, every student at Waco High will be able to find a place to get involved!
In Theatre Arts I, students receive an introduction to the art form through performance, history, and exposure to numerous productions. This course is perfect for anyone looking to expand their cultural horizons while receiving their Fine Arts credit.
Students who wish to continue in Theatre may audition for the Theatre Arts Production class. This course takes an in-depth look at acting and performance, with the end goal of producing a show as a group.
For students interested in the technical aspects of theatre such as lights, sound, props, costumes, and makeup, Waco High offers Theatre Tech I-IV. Students in these courses have the opportunity to have a hands-on learning experience of all of these areas from design to implementation.
Productions are offered throughout the school year and are generally held in the beautiful Richfield Performing Arts Center. The Theatre Program’s season is housed in the modern, 500-seat Lyle Skinner auditorium. Whether you have dreams of making it big on Broadway or are simply searching for an outlet to show off your creative talents, The Waco High Theatre Arts Program is the place to let your talent shine!
